“Come on Currie”

Currie were very well represented at Balgray on Saturday. Given the roadworks on the M8, it was great to see so many of our stalwarts make the journey. This was a much improved performance against a Good Hawks side, very physical and with fast running backs but the boys fronted up and reaped the rewards in the second half.

Chief amongst our support on the day was the Bogle family hence the title of this piece as this is the battle cry of Shiona Bogle. Shiona rarely misses a match, is eternally optimistic and encouraging and is like a breath of fresh air. She is a tremendous organiser as evidenced by the huge shift she put in for the 50th anniversary dinner and is now taking on the organisation of our Sevens tournament to be played next year. More details to follow but we are in safe hands.

Andy is a club legend who played through the seventies and eighties as a stand off, has been a coach and mentor to many including my son and now has a list as long as my arm of jobs to do round the Clubhouse. You may have noticed the weeds have all disappeared. Thanks Andy.

And then there is Cammy, Match Manager and Fixture Secretary always supportive, a definite chip off the old block. Next weekend is very busy with a home match against our old foe Hawick. WE NEED OUR SUPPORT out in droves please. The “MALLENY ROAR”needs to be in full voice. Come for lunch if you can and yell your support from the touch line.

Don’t forget there is a gin tasting the night before in the Club. Pentland Hills Gin are an excellent sponsor and would be good if the Club could support this.
