Our clubhouse facilities can be enjoyed for a variety of purposes from club events to corporate entertaining to private functions.
Currie Chieftains home is in the historic and picturesque mill village of Balerno just off the A70, which runs south-west connecting Edinburgh and Livingston.
The club is located in Malleny Park, close to the centre of the village and shops. Traveling from Edinburgh, turn left off the A70 at the Balerno traffic lights into Bridge Road. Then, just past Balerno High School, turn left into Bavelaw Green and after 50 yards left into the short lane to the Club.
The Clubhouse is located at the junction of the Bavelaw Burn and the beautiful the Water of Leith. It is surrounded by mature parkland and adjacent to the rugby pitches and 3G pitch. There is car parking at the club but buses should unload passengers at Bavelaw Green and park on the circular road around the village.
Within the clubhouse complex are the players changing rooms, strength and conditioning gym, and physiotherapy/medical room. Additionally, there are three function rooms on the ground floor and one on the second floor, as follows:
At ground floor level is the Main Hall which is a centre for hospitality events and keep fit activities. The hall can seat up to 100 for Lunch or Dinner and up to 120 for evening functions. It has a fully licensed bar with a special Gin section alongside the traditional Scottish Malts and other spirits. Our specially brewed Currie Chieftains Ale is now a firm favourite alongside the selected range of draft beers, larger, Guinness and a wide range of bottled beers!
This is adjacent to the Main Hall and can be set up for a buffet layout for guests using the Main Hall or as a small meeting room for up to 12 people.
Also on the ground floor, the Rogerson Suite provides a restful lounge/TV room, or an active spot for meetings, training events, discussion groups or folk-group evenings. It seats up to 22 people for a meal and like the Main Hall and Committee room can be serviced from the ground floor kitchen.
Offering magnificent panoramic views over Malleny Park the Breakout Hub was established during the pandemic with a multifunctional role as a community café, co-working space, meeting centre and event space. Featuring barista coffee, hot and cold rolls, and home baking plus a bar service if required, the Breakout Hub seats up to 50 people for a buffet style meal and up to 70 for evening functions. It has its own entrance, kitchen and toilet facilities separated from the rest of the clubhouse and ensuring privacy for events and functions.
As a members-club, we offer light catering within our own resources or access to professional caterers who can provide quality fresh food and excellent catering whether for a simple finger buffet or a four-course meal. We offer a selection of fine wines to suit all budgets and audio-visual equipment is available on request.
Our clubhouse facilities are enjoyed for a wide range of purposes including club events, member’s private functions, and community or corporate functions.
