Transformation of our Outdoor Changing Rooms

We are incredibly proud to share the transformation of our outdoor changing rooms into a dedicated female changing facility, made possible thanks to a £1,000 grant from Aldi Scotland’s Sports Fund 🙌

The space, once jokingly known as “the Gulag”, has been completely upgraded with:

✔️ The urinals replaced by two new cubicles

✔️ Heaters for warmth and comfort

✔️ Mirrors and plug sockets

✔️ A fresh coat of paint throughout

What is now a warm, welcoming environment gives our girls a space they can truly call their own and represents a huge step forward in building the foundations for a future Currie Chieftains women’s team

The changing rooms were officially opened on Saturday 17th by former Currie Chieftains Girls player Karis Craig, who has gone on to represent Scotland U18s & U20s, play for Edinburgh and Glasgow Women, and currently features for Premiership side Watsonians

The opening was attended by former and current players, from our U10 girls right through to our U18’s, along with parents, celebrating the journey of the girls’ section. On display were special items from our history, including the very first girls’ strip and the tour flag from the first-ever girls tour in 2024.

To mark this achievement, a commemorative plaque has been commissioned from Oak & Black, recognising the generous funding from Aldi Scotland and the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, many of whom gave up their time over Christmas and New Year to complete the project.

Our girls are hugely proud of their new facilities and welcome the club’s continued commitment to strengthening girls’ rugby and building a future women’s team at Currie Chieftains 💛🖤
