Our clubhouse facilities offer a versatile and welcoming environment that caters to a wide range of events and gatherings. Whether you're hosting a large club event, meeting, or celebrating a special occasion, our space provides the perfect setting. With flexible room configurations; suitable for small to large scale groups. The clubhouse can be tailored to suit your specific needs. This can include decorations & catering options. Attentive service from our Clubhouse Manager, facilities manager and staff. Making it an ideal choice for everything from business meetings to events, weddings, birthday parties, funerals and so much more.

Location

 

Currie Chieftains home is in the historic and picturesque village of Balerno, close to the centre of the village and shops. The Clubhouse is located alongside Bavelaw Burn and near the beautiful Water of Leith. Located close to Malleny gardens, which is a lovely visit. It is surrounded by mature parkland and adjacent to the rugby pitches and 3G pitch owned by Edinburgh Leisure.

Transport

 

The club is conveniently located in the heart of Balerno. Widely sign posted- Taxi’s can easily access and the 44 bus stop is less than a 5 minute walk away. The club is just off the A70 for car access, Currie Hill train station is a 7 minute drive or a 30 minute walk. Traveling from Edinburgh, turn left off the A70 at the Balerno traffic lights into Bridge Road. Then, just past Balerno High School, turn left into Bavelaw Green and after 50 yards left into the short lane to the Club. Public car parking is available. Busses should unload on the main road- busses cannot gain access to the car park.

 

Facilities/Services

 

Within the club layout are the players changing rooms, gym and medical room. We can offer catering services and we always strive to meet the needs of every individual event. Additionally, there are three function rooms on the ground floor and one on the second floor, as follows:

 

Main Hall

 

At ground floor level is the Main Hall which is the largest of the three rooms. The hall can seat up to 110 for Lunch or Dinner and up to 120 for evening functions such as a party. There is a large dance floor in the centre of the room. It has a fully licensed bar with a variety of gins, Scottish Malts, selected draft beers and a range of bottle beers that are regularly updated! Seating and layout can be interchangeable to suit particular events. Audio and visual equipment can be sourced upon request.

 

Committee/Pool Room

 

This room is a sizable space that currently hosts a games/family room. This is one of our most versatile spaces with a bar hatch for full bar access.

 

Rogerson Suite

 

Also on the ground floor, the Rogerson Suite provides a restful lounge/TV room, or a great spot for meetings & training courses. We have also held the likes of whisky tasting and small scale events. There is a bar hatch that can fully cater for this room.

 

Breakout Cafe

 

Offering panoramic views over Malleny Park the Breakout Hub was established during the pandemic with a multifunctional role as a community café and co-working space. This space can be booked for private functions, at a separate fee and management. Featuring barista coffee, hot and cold rolls, and home baking plus a bar service if required, the Breakout Hub seats up to 50 people for a buffet style meal and up to 70 for evening functions. It has its own entrance, kitchen and toilet facilities separated from the rest of the clubhouse and ensuring privacy for events and functions
