It is with sadness that we report the passing of loyal club member George Burt.
From the early days of the newly established Currie RFC Clubhouse at Malley Park, George Burt could be found amongst the founding movers and shakers who helped propel the ambitious rugby club through the national leagues, and into the top echelons of Scottish club rugby.
With his like-minded colleagues, the midweek rugby banter at the bar sparked several optimistic projects that initially caused concerns but eventually reaped dividends.
His experience with financial issues and his enthusiasm to promote the fledgling club were infectious.
The midweek bar conversations were boisterous, jovial and friendly, with newcomers being encouraged to contribute.
In recent years, his appearances at the club have been less frequent, but his contributions over the years are well recorded and will be remembered.
A Celebration of George's life will be held on Monday 20th July at 1.30pm at Balerno Parish Church.
Contributed by Ivor Santer on behalf of the Club.
