Table-toppers Ayr and Currie Chieftains feature prominently in final selection which was achieved via poll of TOL's (The Offside Line) readers.
AFTER romping to 18 bonus-point wins in 18 matches played during the Arnold Clark Men’s Premiership regular season, perhaps the only real surprise about there being six Ayr players in this Dream Team plus one more as a replacement is that there wasn’t more.
Tim Brown, the Millbrae man on the bench, can count himself unlucky to have missed out on the starting XV having received just one less vote than Sam Wallace of Heriot’s in the openside flanker poll.
Similarly, Scott Robeson of Currie Chieftains came within a whisker or being named in the No 12 jersey but lost out by just three votes to Bobby Beattie of Ayr, and Archie Barbour of Kelso pipped Fraser Sayers of Currie Chieftains at the post for the full-back selection. Brown, Robeson and Sayers are all named on the bench.
The most emphatic selection was at scrum-half where Gregor Christie of Currie Chieftains picked up 59 percent of the vote.
16 of the 23 players selected here also featured in the Scotland Club XV’s recent Dalriada Cup match against Ireland in Dublin. And honourable mentions are due to Robbie Orr (Ayr), Ben Pickles (Selkirk), Alex Harley (Currie Chieftains), Struan Cessford, Pat Spence (both Heriot’s), Gregor Law (Kelso), Ryan Sweeney (Ayr), Sam Cardosi, Archie Fletcher and Ed Hasdell (all Currie Chieftains) who picked up more than 20 percent of the vote in their respective positions but not quite enough to make this squad.

14. Ryan Daley (Currie Chieftains) – 35.2%
13. Andrew Mitchell (Hawick) – 40%
